Frequently asked questions

How It all Began?  In September 2022, our lives changed forever when our daughter, Emma 9 at the time, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. She was air lifted to the hospital in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), and our family was suddenly faced with a lifelong journey we never expected. Like so many parents, we quickly learned that T1D doesn't take a break. Every day and every night became filled with blood sugar checks, insulin, alarms, and constant worry.

As we searched for ways to give Emma more safety and Independence, we discovered diabetic alert service dogs. We knew a service dog could make a tremendous difference in her life, but the cost was overwhelming,

With the love and support of our family, friends, church family, local businesses, and an incredible community, we were able to raise the funds needed for Emma to receive her diabetic alert dog. Their generosity changed our lives, and we will never forget the people who stood beside us during that journey.

That experience inspired something bigger.

We created Emma's Diabetic Guardian Paws Foundation because we believe every child with Type 1 deserves the same opportunity. Our mission is to help families raise the funds needed for diabetic alert service dogs, provide hope during difficult times, and build a community that understand the challenges of live with T1D.

What started with one young girls has grown into a mission to help many more. Together, we can give children greater safety, confidence, Independence, and peace of mind-one paw at a time.
